AJAX control toolkit merupakan sekumpulan komponen gratis (dan open source) yang dikeluarkan secara resmi oleh microsoft untuk membantu para programmer web dalam melakukan pemrograman berbasis web dengan menggunakan teknik AJAX.
Salah satu keunggulan utama dari AJAX Control Toolkit adalah kemudahan penggunaan serta adanya dokumentasi dan contoh yang dapat dilihat disitus ajax.asp.net . Akibatnya penggunaan AJAX Control Toolkit jauh lebih mudah dilakukan, dibandingkan dengan komponen-komponen lainnya (baik yang gratis maupun yang komersial) untuk AJAX.

- Pop Up Control : digunakan untuk menampung berbagai jenis komponen lain sebagai target pop up yang akan muncul saat komponen diklik. Konsep dari komponen ini sesungguhnya adalah sebagai jembatan dari dua buah komponen yang akan ditautkan prosesnya.
- Rating Control : memperbolehkan user untuk memilih sendiri jumlah bintang yang akan ditampilkan didalam presentasi hasil rating yang diperoleh. Dalam pendesainan halaman developer dapat memberikan spesifik inisial rating, nilai maksimum rating yang diijinkan, posisi bintang yang ditampilkan vertikal atau horisontal, dan dapat menentukan sendiri desain yang akan digunakan untuk tiap-tiap bagian bintang yang berbeda-beda.
- TextBoxWatermark : merupakan komponen dari ASP.NET AJAX yang dapat dilekatkan pada kontrol ASP.NET TextBox untuk memberikan sifat “watermark”. Ketika TextBox yang dilekatkan tersebut belum diisi maka akan menampilkan pesan kepada user yang dapat didesain menggunakan CSS style. Ketika user memulai memasukkan isian kata kedalam TextBox maka tulisan pesan didalam watermark akan menghilang secara otomatis. Tujuan khusus penggunaan watermark ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi lebih kepada user tentang pengisian TextBox tanpa perlu mengganggu halaman yang sudah ditampilkan.
